Programming for classrooms
A menu of curriculum enhancements are offered to classroom teachers to encourage visitation and to enhance the visit using the Museum exhibits as the stage for expanded educational programming. Jim Edwards, the Museum's Education Coordinator with his strong background in education and theater, presents each of the programs. Teachers can choose from the following programs. Jim will also work with any teacher to create a program just for their classroom. The exhibits offer a host of possibilities.

| 8-18 Media |
| |
8-18 Media is a youth news bureau with a mission of giving kids a significant voice in the world. Youths ages 8 to 18 work in teams on issue-based stories which are published in Marquette Monthly magazine and are broadcast weekly on WMQT Radio and Public Radio 90. Members also produced a video series which aired on local public television and the local ABC affiliate. The news bureau was honored in 2003 with an Excellence in Broadcasting award by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for its radio spots. Besides local reporting, members cover special projects such as recent cultural exchanges in Japan. In 2004, they reported from the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. The bureau has approximately 65 active members. More... |
